February 2014: A break in the storms

The storms have just kept coming over the last couple of weeks with local coastal locations being battered by high winds and waves. There was some clear weather over the weekend which allowed for a walk at West Bay. It was apparent this harbour has taken a battering.

Debris washed up around the harbour:

Stones washed onto the concrete pier:

Debris brought over the harbour wall by the high tide:

There was plenty of time to watch the waves come onto the beach. This could be done from a safe distance away from a a spot one of the stone piers.

The above three photographs taken at a variety of focal lengths with my 55-250mm lens. Note three different compositions and use of black and white.

There was even a brief hail storm and a rainbow a couple of miles down the road:

This photograph is Dorsetforyou.com's photograph of the week!

Sometimes you aren't in the best place to photograph a rainbow so it's a case of "take the photo you need", although a quick decision was made to use the rooftops in the photos.

A coffee from one of the harbour kiosks is a must before heading home!
