Swanage Bay Sunset
In: Landscapes, Workshops
An enjoyable and informative Long Exposures workshop run by Paul Sanders (paulsanders.biz), Swanage Bay, Dorset.
Swanage Bay, minimalist black and white, use of negative space:

Technical stuff: 4 minute exposure, Lee Big Stopper with Lee 3 stop ND, exposure time calculated with an app. ND Grad considered but not used. Sigma lens at 20mm, F18, ISO 100, RAW file processed in Photoshop CS to black and white, with the final finish being my choice.
Minimalist, black and white, use of negative space:
Technical stuff: As above.
The four and a half hours were well worth it, in particular the final half an hour as the sun set across the Bay.
Swanage Bay, towards Old Harry Rocks.
Technical stuff: 4 minute exposure, ND Grad and Lee Big Stopper. Sigma lens at 16mm. F8 (I would have liked a smaller aperture but the exposure time would have gone over 20 minutes). Exposed 1 2/3 stops to the right, use of hyperfocal focussing. RAW file processed in Photoshop CS, with the final finish/crop being my choice.
The "before" view I was looking at across Swanage Bay towards Old Harry Rocks.
Straight of camera with base adjustments to RAW file.
I didn't get it correct the first time. Here's the wipeout.

There's very little to recover in the shadow areas.
Important to find out what went wrong, learn from it and correct it.
Further points to consider: Be present in the moment, take a step back, enjoy the privilege of seeing things in nature that others don't see, have fun, take photographs for 'yourself'.
