March/April 2012 - Spring Daffodils
In: Landscapes
This is always a nice stroll; along the seafront in Weymouth past the gardens at Greenhill. This is a classic picture postcard Weymouth scene:
A couple of close-ups of the daffodils:

Handheld f5.6:

This is the test photo: The photo most people will see. The bin is a clear obstacle. With the sun behind the clouds the photo isn't very vibrant. The camera exposed to the ground leaving the sky washed out and slightly over exposed. Because the path is about ten foot lower than the beach huts, the beach huts will also 'lean back'.

To overcome some of these issues, I waited about 20 minutes for some good cloud cover and blue sky. The sun came out from behind the clouds. Obviously you don't want the bin in the photo either! To rescue the sky, I under exposed by 1 stop. This, together with the leaning back of the beach huts/and the lens distortion was dealt with in photoshop afterwards.
With a bit of patience, a test photograph can be turned into a photograph which is quite pleasing.
