November 2011: Firework time...
November is firework time. This year we watched fireworks across the bay. In previous years I've included the sea and some of the buildings on the other side of the bay. This year I wanted something different, with my longer canon lens I wanted to zoom in to try and fill the frame.
There are a few things to remember when taking photographs of fireworks: Arrive early, find your spot, take a couple of test shots. Camera settings: manual mode,f8, ISO 100, bulb mode, remote switch (to control exposure time without moving the camera) and possibly a black piece of card...
In a nine minute display there is opportunity to take a few photographs. The weather was kind - not alot of wind blowing the fireworks around, so long exposures worked quite well. A few photographs don't work and some work really well. Here are four of my favourites. I've added a white border so the images don't get 'lost' in the background.
