April 2012: Weymouth 2012

Walking along Weymouth seafront over recent weeks, one can't help notice the amount of activity in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games - the Olympic sailing is being hosted in Weymouth and Portland. Weymouth and Portland is the largest Olympic and Paralympic venue outside London and up to 60,000 spectators and visitors are expected to visit per day.
Now the roadworks are complete the focus is on the seafront and a large regeneration project is taking place.
The upside-down boat refreshment kiosks are in place:

New sand has arrived and the beach fairground rides are being put up:

All the victorian promenade lights are having a refurb. Some of the locals weren't too keen on how bright the new lights were and hung a lampshade on one in protest:

The town bridge (Grade II-listed bridge, built in 1930) is getting a refurb:

The listed beach huts at Greenhill are having the exterior repainted.
